Too many HTML pages?

Hi General,
Someone told me that I have too many HTML pages and that this might slow down my site loading process.
However this person could not immediately offer me a clear cut solution to the problem.
Should I ignore this or could you perhaps offer a solution?

This should not be a problem for your site, if you need the pages you should keep them.
