    Help...404 Error for Subdomain

    Hi,

I just published my subdomain and got a 404 error. Not sure what that means. I'm pretty sure I did it right and have folowed all instructions from the tutorials and threads. Please help. I have loaded the file to public_html/beezkidzworld.com

    My subdomain is http://www.beezkidzworld.beezworld.com

I have a beezkidzworld.com folder for all pages created for that domain.
Was I not supposed to save my beezkidzworld home page as an index.html?...is that why I'm having problems.

    Please help

It takes time for the sub domain to be visible on the web - anywhere from 24 to 72 hours.

      Re: Help...404 Error for Subdomain

Your folder can't be beezkidzworld.com. I suppose it is beezkidzworld. And yes, your default page in that subdomain (and folder) must be index.html. The 404 error as Racefan suggested is due to the time required for DNS propagation.

Thank you both and I'll be sure to check and make sure my folder is not saying beezkidzworld.com.

          Hi there again,

Sorry to bug you guys but my subdomain is still not up and I was wondering if you could advise me as to what may be the problem. I know 24-72 hours was the time it might take and I realize VodaHost is one busy place and I'm being a bit impatient but I have a few kids looking to put their art work in my guest kidz artist section....so a bit antsy on my part.

          This is my sub -http://www.beezkidzworld.beezworld.com

I placed all the sub domain files - index.html, artz.html and thehive.html in the following folder (beezkidzworld) in my public_html folder of my file manager. If I've gone crazy and done it all wrong...please show me the way to get out of wonderland and on the right path home...:)

          Thanks

              Hi Amanda,

yup...that was the first thing I did...I know i probably fouled up somewhere and my poor brain was drained of much needed grey matter (must be going to my graying hair)...LOL....I've checked and double checked but decided to have rum punch and fuh-git-about-it for now. Will look at with an inbriated(sp) brain and see if that works.

              Thanks for trying....:)

Before the rum punch kicks in.... (lol) did you purchase the name of the sub, as I remember us talking about it?...

Because if you did it needs to be added (in cp) as an 'add-on' domain which is slightly different from sub. Only asking because I had the same problem a few weeks ago and I'd forgot to add-on.

I see your site now. You may want to republish because all your buttons are missing

Remember when publishing you have to type in the folder area or publish to: public_html/beezkidzworld folder

I think you published your beez kids world subdomian page in your main domian directory because your main domain has the same thing as the subdomian... you'll probably have to publish your main page agian and remember to rest the folder back to public_html in the folder area of publish
