and here's me thinking its working because I rebooted the system...lol...I got all excited thinking I was the hero...

BTW - what was the problem? Is there anything i can do in future to avoid this?

Yes, the server black listed your IP address...
make sure you are entering your username and
password correctly. Voda2 is our most secure server
and it is very tempermental about usernames and
passwords.

Does having loads of big photos affect publishing then? as i have quite a few photos on my site.
