index.htm page not coming up

Hi

I've moved my site www.robleyshop.co.uk to Vodahost but when I try to view it I get the "Index of /" list of files instead of the index.htm page.

Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong - it worked OK with the previous host.

Hi Steve,
what have you saved your index page as, please?
It should be saved as just index nothing else as BV adds the html bit when it publishes.

If you have done that correctly - ensure that you've not used I instead of i

I didn't use BV, the site was already built using another editor and was up-and-running. I have only changed host to Vodahost.

The index.htm file is named with a lower case "i"

If you look at this link you will see the files!!

Perhaps it just hasn't propagated properly yet?

If they're listed they are there.

When did you transfer your domain?

I'm not an expert in non-BV sites so I'm not sure. So you'll have to hang on in there and wait for another member to pop along. Sorry I couldn't be more help :o) You won't be waiting long.

I transferred it Thursday evening.

The emails work OK, etc. Just strange it doesn't identify the index.htm page.

Well you should allow up to 72 hours for propogation to occur. It's usually quicker than that though. Somebody really clever will be by soon, lol. Hang on in there....

Your site has propogated ok, its all there.....just use bv and publish your index page......at the moment its index.htm and should be .html.

Yes thanks, David, I know you can view it like that.

I changed the file name to .html in cpanel earlier and it still didn't load automatically when called from www.robleyshop.co.uk .

I have other sites on Vodahost and haven't used BV on any of them!

I'll try importing it into BV and re-saving it.

Just done that, BV has published it as .html, still doesn't work !!

I did a search of the index problem and ran across this;

Perhaps there is some coding issue?

Check it out and see if this helps. If not I would open a support ticket.

I looked at your previous post where you said that you published it as html- I do not see the index.html in the directory- all I see is the htm

Delete the index.htm (after you have backed it up somewhere) from the BV server and re-publish the renamed index.html page to the public_html . Then try to bring it up again in IE or what ever browser you like.

Thanks, Andy. I have seen the other thread you found but can't see where my coding could be wrong, especially as it worked with the previous host.

You can't see the .html version now because I ftp'd the old .htm version back in place as otherwise none of the existing links will ever find it.

I'll raise a support ticket !

Well, support sorted it out straight away but they haven't said what they did!

The files don't seem to have changed, it is still index.htm

I have asked what I did wrong - will let you know if I get an answer.
