    Language Support - Chinese

Question regarding language support on website. I want to create a website that provides both english and chinese languages. Wondering if Blue Voda software will support Chinese:

    1. Chinese language simplified characters
    2. Icon to switch between english and chinese

    Thanks

    Re: Language Support - Chinese

Plese click the following for the use of chinese with BV.: http://www.vodahost.com/vodatalk/blu...languages.html

Yes, you can have a switch button. But, what this button actually does, would be redirecting the visitor to a page writen in English and viceversa.
In fact, you need a chinese and an english version for all your pages. I suggest that you make a home page with instructions both in english and chinese, that prompts the visitor to select language. Once he selects the language, he gets redirected to the appropriate section of the site.

      Re: Language Support - Chinese

At the link you provided Brad explained how set up other languages using 'properties' page.

Question: how to install the Chinese set or any other language as shown? The standard options offered by Blue Voda are ISO8959-1 and UTF8.

According to Brad, I will need:

      Chinese
      • EUC-CN
      • HZ, GBK
      • GB18030 Standard Chinese
      • UC-TW
      • BIG5
      • CP950
      • BIG5-HKSCS,
      • ISO-2022-CN, ISO-2022-CN-EXT

      Thanks,
      Robert

          Thanks for the reply.

Is it as simple as just typing in the letters "GB18030" in the box and the chinese characters are available??? available from where, Blue Voda software or on my computer? Please provide a more thorough explanation.

          Much appreciated.

Fonts are available from your computer. Typing in the character set field the appropriate character set (as GB18030) will include in the page code a line that tells the browser what character set to use. Of course, it will only work if the visitor's computer has also that character set installed.

              Hi, I'm new to webpage.
Can you teach me how to display a webpage, with both english and chinese?

When I try to copy and paste some chinese characters to a Blue Voda Text box, the wording seems to change.

              Please help.

              Thank you.

You need to have the chinese character set (not only the font) installed on your computer. If you are in China, it will probably have it installed already, otherwise you need to find it and install it.

                      Navaldesign,

We have successfully displayed the chinese characters on the webpage...however, the buttons are gibberish. How do we program the buttons to display the chinese character set?

                      Thanks,
                      Rob

                          Hi headlands

I am new to BV and wanted to copy chinese character from ms words.
I have configure Character Set (BV) to GB18030 and in control panel language set to Chinese (PRC), it still cannot work.
                          I copy "亚 洲 鳄 鱼 精" it turn out in VB only "精".

Can you please advise how can I set it correctly to copy chinese character from ms words.

                          Thanks in advance, Eric
