Installation / Database problem Post Affiliate Pro PAP2

I created my database named postaff, gave my username full privileges,
    DSN: localhost
    database name: myvodohostid_postaff
    username: username_postaff
password: xxxxxxxx (or should it be xxxxxx_postaff)?

I am getting this error during my installation:

Cannot connect to database, check your database configuration. Database returned: Database connection doesn't exist

Also getting error that I must chmod settings/settings.php to 777 (but I fixed that already)

Any ideas? I have tried so many variations of the above. Do I need to start over? I've been all over the forums and to the help page at qualityunit.com/help with no solution easily found. I've done the tutorials so I'm not sure what I have overlooked. Thanks in advance.

The password doesn't need _postaff (if can, but it doesn't need it).

Your username and database with both start with

(your vodahost login name)_ following by whatever you entered as the name.

I have never installed that so this is just a guess, but if it had a setup process (visit a page, enter the database info, and submit), and you didn't change the chmod until after, it was probably trying to write the database information to the settings file, and it probably didn't.

Thank you. Are you telling me that my username would actually be: my vodo login name_username (the one I defined) and my database would be: my vodo login name_postaff(the name of my database). If so, I'll fix that and retry my installation. Thank you for your help.

        Yes

Say your cpanel login name is "asdf", and you want you database username to be "postaff", then your username you need to enter when you install will be

        asdf_postaff

the same goes for your database name

I was sooo on a role with your help! I got to the point where it said successful.... Go to Merchant Panel. So I clicked on that and got:

Savant2: template source file not found

            Any ideas? I'm getting closer!

I've had great success so far with your help. Thanks so much!

On www.qualityunit.com it said I need to reload /affiliates /includes & /templates. That doesn't sound pretty but I'll give that a shot. I still don't know what that error means... I'm guessing something didn't get uploaded properly. I'm scared I'll screw it up all over again. Goodness!

Unfortunately I still have the same problem even after reloading those files. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to resolve this? Thank you.
