write permissions

Can someone tell me how to set the write permissions so a php script can create a file. I am trying to install a php script called asrep, but I get an error message saying it cannot create the necessary file.

Have you tried contacting asrep support. I seem to recall somene else having an
issue with hem a few months ago.
