edit flash..Please help

Hi,

I've spent the last 5 hours trying to edit a flash template but i cant seem to be able to do it. The problem is that the library component in flash (Ctrl+L) which i would like to edit is in bmp format (i think) or some format that cant be edited. Problem is i cant export that library component into PSD and edit it. I can import files from photoshop but they do not correspond to the library components in flash.
Is there another way i can do this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Use a photo editor to re-save the .bmp image as either a .gif or .jpg as Flash requires either.
