Website Login?

Hello,
I currently have a website that would be a lot more fun if I could give the people on my webpage something to tap into. Say LOGIN? I have a sql database, but I don't know how to do much or what its for. The totorials aren't very helpful. Can someone help me find this information on how I can create a login?
