    Adding Joomla

I was wondering if I can add Joomla in Fantastico if I have an existing site already published?
    Or
Do I have to buy another site and then add it?
I have BrownBeanMachines.com and I'm looking into using a Joomla Template

    Re: Adding Joomla

Well.. you can install it.. but it will overwrite what you have there..if it doesnt give you an error about similar named files in existence. You could install it in a subfolder.. but if all you are after is the skin just duplicate it in bv

      Re: Adding Joomla

      Thanks Karen,

I want to experiment with Joomla and all of the aspects from installing it to completing a project. I want to eventually have another site using joomla.
I'm learning more php and SQL database.
Learning Joomla will also help our business when it comes to helping our customers implement our products to their site.

Drawing from your answer, I may want to start from scratch and do a separate site, but I want to use VH for my host.

If the domain name is parked on ******* can I still add the domain to the CP while it's there or am I skipping a task with VH?
I watched all of the CP tutorials and I did'nt catch anything mentioning the domain being parked elsewhere.

              Re: Adding Joomla

You can manually load Joomla anywhere quite easily enough, Randall.
In fact, I would advise you to do a manual load of Joomla (or any other script) rather than use Fantastico --- for a LOT of reasons, the foremost being you will be able to install a version that is current and self-updating (Fantastico has older versions and requires manual updating).

If you are hitting a wall, gimme a shout and I will try to help you out (in fact, you might have to wait about a week: I am driving back to Florida this Sunday -moving back to the Tampa Bay Area- seeing a few friends along the way, so I won't be back in full form until the 8th).

you know how to reach me anytime. yes create the addon in cpanel, manual install is usually better for this as vasili says...point your domain name at you know where to your vodahost server, and proceed with the install..

If you need specific help.. you know where to reach me.
