I am going to set up a site which will be selling one off single items, is there a way in oscommerce to add a SOLD sign and prevent other people buying the same product, once one person has purchased the item.

I'm no expert on this stuff, but I think you just add your stock level when you add the product and the script will mark it out of stock when it sells out.
