    png problems

Hi I just started setting up a site, but the website builder will not work with my png images (24 bit with alpha) when I use the standard image tool. It says that the image can not be found. It works with jpegs and all, but not with the pngs.

I'm not sure what the problem is, I asked a friend who uses Dreamweaver to test it out and he got it to work with no problem.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Convert to *.gif or *.jpeg (best for photos). BV doesn't work with *.png

I don't see that Jeffry would be talking about Photos...
He was talking about images, in which case it's a big difference between .PNG and .JPEG or .GIF.

            Re: png problems

Images are photos, drawings, cartoons, icons, emblems, signs, symboils, etc.

There are no significant differences between .png and .gif that users will be able to discern. One is copyright the other is free. Eventually .png may replace .gif.

Do a search for all three in Google or Yahoo. Compare and decide for yourself what you need.

PNG's are much higher quality than JPG. They allow for super high detailed imagary in even something as small as a 10x10 pixel square.

                  That's a fact!
But I think it's much easer to work with .PNG format instead of .GIF
(if you making designs, want to save file and continue later or send to someone to change or modife image)

                    Re: png problems

Yes, I agree but that's life .. what can I say, hehe! Not everyone has Macromedia Fireworks 8 so if you use a .png file they won't be able to see it. As for .jpg or .gif etc it is used on all computers.
                    Best regards,
                    Jeremy
