page settings question

Will someone tell me how to set my pages, when i set my pages and publish, it comes up with a different thing. e.g assuming i set the w=600 and L=1000 after publishing it gives another setting different from the original setting ,messing the whole thing up. please advice on what to do

You can't just set the size, you have to make sure all elements on the page are within that size. BV does not automatically resize and rearrange things for you, that would be impossible.
