phpBB 3.06

I have placed the "install" folder from 3.04 to 3.06 into my public/xxxforum directory.
However when I try to do the install I am notified that there is no
install/index.php?mode=update&sid=0811fd02a2d784789c81b88f c2a36204
I can see it there....no joy however !!
Any suggestions?

The reason for the update is the Forum has been spammed to no end....
Maybe delete the forum and start with a new forum ?????
3.06 is supposed to have much better security.
