preview problem?

I am new at this,so please overlook my ignorance but i have tried several times to create a new website, and everything goes just fine to a certain point. I begin with a few pics and html codes and everything looks good in preview.However it appears to stop there. Any addition of pics,codes,etc after the few basic start pics,are not seen in preview.
I have cleared the cache,memory, ran anti- virus programs,checked the forums, tutorials, and cannot seem to find a answer.
would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.
