    Can't Find Redirect Site

    Hi.

My original website is www.bubbeesbeads.ORG. After being advised that the .org is usually used for non-profit organizations, I created the same site but with .com www.bubbeesbeads.COM. I changed every .org to .com that I could find or think of . I republished as .com and typed in a redirect for .org to .com in my control panel.

When I try to find the .org site on any SE..........no problem.
However, when I try to find the .com.......nothing shows.

I have a feeling that I've skipped an important step and don't know what it is. Would someone please tell me what the steps are to publishing and redirecting an addon domain. I'm not too swift.....so please number steps and talk plainly. Thanks....always appreciative of my BV friends.

I deleted the repost - totally not necessary. If you felt someone might have missed this, you could simply have posted to it asking if anyone has the answer.

Truthfully, it's really hard to diagnose what you might have missed. Did you post all the .com pages to:
    public_html/bubbeesbeads
    ???

If you didn't change that information when you clicked to publish, that would keep them from showing.

        Re: Can't Find Redirect Site

I am assuming that you purchased the domain name with a .com ending.
Then created an add-on domain. Then had the appropriate servers.

There must be a problem as I cannot even get your original site to show.

Perhaps open a support ticket and have them take a look.

          Hi Andy and Beth,
Thanks for your input. Both the .com and .org site are accessible now thru any SE. Only thing that is not working, I think, is the redirect. Does that mean that when one goes to the .org site he/she is immediately forwarded to the .com site? not sure how this works. Thx, Mindy

Your .org is correctly going to .com - but the .com is NOT showing with the redirect or by typing the url into my browser. I just get a blank white page after a long wait, so something is still wrong.

Dearest Beth, You have a very large computer vocabulary, I do not. It was such a struggle for me to compose this website that I am so proud of. But, with all I think I've learned, nothing comes any easier. I still can't recall what to do in certain circumstances and I'm tired of feeling stupid.....Sorry to disappoint you........ I just can't figure this one out.
Thanks for your help.....as ever, Mindy

                      Mindy,
Why don't you take the new .com and redirect it to your .org site then. That way you can even give out the .com address if you desire.

I sure wish I could see what you've done that isn't working - I'm sure it's something really simple that's being overlooked - which is so easy to do. Unfortunately, it's not something I can see.

                      Good luck to you.

Hi Beth..........new day and new mental energy.......so I'm gonna give it another try. I CAN access the .com site via my SE if I add the ending index.html. However, without index.html... just www.bubbeesbeads.com It will not come up. Not sure why. Once there I can get to every page so I know they are correct. I'm not sure how I did the redirect, but I'll check again and make sure its .com to the .org site. I'll let u know what happens. Thx again, Mindy

                          Hi Beth,

I think I have the redirects backwards...here's what it says

                          Add Redirect: http://bubbeesbeads.org/ http://
                          ( Temporary Permanent)

                          Remove Redirect: / /index.html

                          Current Redirects/http://www.bubbeesbeads.com(permanent)/index.htmlhttp://www.bubbeesbeads.com(permanent)

Do I need to change it? if so, how?
                          Thx

                            For Beth,

Hi, tried to redo the redirects, but don't know how to change the .org which is always the first one to come up with a space for me to type in the second (.com)..........How do I switch them?

                            Thanks, Mindy
