Remove HTML or PHP in URL

What I'm trying to do is remove the Html form my website address. Example, this is what I have now. My address is www.valleywidenewspaper.com.index.html what I would like to have is www.valleynewspaper.com without showing the index.html.
Can this be done in the website redirect in the cpanel?

Hi,

You cannot do this with a redirect as it would cause an endless loop I am not sure I understand your question as your website by default works without the index.html at the end. Can you please let us know where you are trying to remove it so we may help you?
